Game of Thrones' expansive lore stretches far beyond dragons and prophecy, with dozens of unresolved mysteries from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire still lingering on fans' minds. One of the most fascinating elements of mysticism across the novels, HBO's Game of Thrones, and House of the Dragon is the nature of the universe's various witches.
Many fans will remember Maggy the Frog from early on in GoT and in GRRM's A Feast for Crows, while Melisandre the Red Witch is a fan-favorite character with some of the most iconic scenes from the original show. Lesser-known witches appear across Westeros as well, with figures like the Ghost of High Heart and Mother Mole adding even more mystery to the franchise's supernatural lore.
However, with House of the Dragon Season 3 wrapping up in recent weeks, questions surrounding Alys Rivers and the history of Harrenhal have taken center stage, and while Season 4 is a ways off, fans may get some of the answers they're looking for with the release of The Witch's Visions, available now for a limited time (via GoTD).
Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is currently celebrating House of the Dragon's Season 3 run with the release of every special event from this season, with one in particular bringing players into the mysteries surrounding Harrenhal and its resident witch, Alys Rivers. The Witch's Visions draws directly from House of the Dragon's Harrenhal storyline, with the Black Goat serving as a monstrous omen connected to the strange visions experienced around the supposedly cursed castle.
Harrenhal has long been one of Westeros' most ominous locations, and House of the Dragon has leaned heavily into that, with characters having terrifying dreams/visions inside the castle walls. Daemon experienced disturbing visions there throughout Season 2 after meeting Alys Rivers, played by Gayle Rankin, while the Season 3 premiere returned to that imagery when Ulf encountered the mysterious Black Goat near Harrenhal.
The Witch’s Visions event was originally tied to the Season 3 premiere, "Salt and Sea, Fire and Blood," allowing Dragonfire players to experience its story alongside the show. Now, The Witch's Visions is available again alongside the other special events released throughout House of the Dragon Season 3 as part of Dragonfire's season-ending celebration. You'll be able to partake in each of these while the "Watch-Along" event lasts, running now through October 1.
Game of Thrones: Dragonfire is a 4X mobile strategy game based on House of the Dragon, developed by Warner Bros. Games Boston, and it's available for free now on iOS through the App Store and Android through Google Play.
