Saravanan MACC probe: Ex-minister ready to declare assets over RM1 mil bribery charges

PUTRAJAYA: Former human resources minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan is prepared to provide the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) with details of all assets acquired since 2019, including those held in Malaysia and overseas.

He said his cooperation was part of the normal procedure to enable MACC to determine whether there was any unexplained or disproportionate wealth in his name or that of his family members.

"I have agreed to cooperate with MACC by providing all the information they require. This is a normal procedure and there is nothing to hide.

"If there are allegations against anyone, this is how they investigate whether the wealth is extraordinary or otherwise," he told reporters after appearing at the MACC headquarters today to receive a notice to declare his assets.

Saravanan arrived at the MACC headquarters at 9.15am with his wife and his 12-year-old son and 24-year-old daughter, travelling in two luxury vehicles.

He later left the MACC headquarters after completing the necessary procedures.

Saravanan was at the MACC to receive the asset declaration notice following three charges against him over an alleged RM1.097 million in bribes received four years ago in connection with the approval of an application for 1,000 foreign worker quotas for TYKB Engineering Sdn Bhd.
