Tusshar Kapoor gets Rs 5 crore extortion call from man claiming to be Bishnoi gang member; police suspect hoax

Actor Tusshar Kapoor, son of veteran actor Jeetendra, has allegedly been targeted in an extortion attempt, with a caller posing as Harry Boxer of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang demanding Rs 5 crore. He reported the matter to the Mumbai Police, whose early investigation suggests the call may be a fake, because the voice recording did not match official audio samples of Harry Boxer.

Tusshar Kapoor extortion call audio checked by Crime Branch

According to IANS, the Crime Branch’s technical team closely studied the recording of the threatening call to Tusshar. The voice was then checked against official audio samples of Harry Boxer kept in the police database.

Police suspect call is fake

Mumbai Police officials have said the audio samples were not a match, prompting investigators to suspect early on that the call is fake. They believe someone may have borrowed the Bishnoi gang’s name just to scare the actor.

Police are now working to track down whoever sent the recording.

Bollywood stars and Lawrence Bishnoi gang threats

Bollywood names such as Salman Khan, Rohit Shetty, Ranveer Singh and Tiger Shroff have reportedly been on the receiving end of threats and attacks allegedly tied to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Tusshar Kapoor on the work front

On the work front, Tusshar has 'Golmaal 5', helmed by Rohit Shetty. The original 'Golmaal', which came out in 2006, starred Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad and Sharman, with Rimi Sen and Paresh Rawal also in the cast.

The film is reportedly based on Harsh Shivsharan’s Marathi play 'Ghar Ghar', which also inspired Vora’s Gujarati play 'Aflatoon', one of the film’s inspirations in turn. It was followed by sequels including 'Golmaal Returns' in 2008, 'Golmaal 3' in 2010 and 'Golmaal Again' in 2017. Ajay, Arshad, Tusshar, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee and Mukesh Tiwari featured in all the films, while Shreyas Talpade appeared in three, and Kunal Khemu and Johnny Lever in two.
