If you want a bingeworthy new drama to watch, then Adultery may be the series for you. Written by Danny Brocklehurst, best known for his adaptations of Harlan Coben's works, the six-part series premieres tonight!

The romantic drama follows Tom (Dominic Cooper) and Beth (Romola Garai), a pair who share some scandalous romantic chemistry. Matters are complicated, however, as each party is married and has a family.

To make the situation even more dramatic, the children of each figure develop a bond of their own. But with Tom and Beth being drawn to each other, will they be able to resist each other and preserve their family unit?

Featuring Shelley Conn and Matthew McNulty in supporting roles, the series premieres tonight at 9pm on ITV1. You won't have to wait too long for the next episode either, as it airs at the same time on Monday (26 October).

"There's a psychological equation. It says that 'attraction plus an obstacle equals excitement'. But what happens if the attraction is too strong, if the obstacles are too great. What then? Do you threaten everything?" reads the logline.

"Adultery raises questions about class, grief and the effects of social media, as it takes the viewer on a rollercoaster story of passion, parenthood and peril," it continues, with Tom and Beth's "passionate and intense love affair" threatening to "uproot their whole lives".

Speaking about the highly anticipated series, Brocklehurst, who is known for Brassic and Fool Me Once, said: "This is a drama about passion and I've passionately wanted to write it for some time."

"I'm thrilled to be partnering with ITV and Poison Pen to bring audiences a show about how love and sex have the capacity to lift us to the highest highs and the lowest lows," added the writer.

Polly Hill, Director of Drama at ITV, said: "Danny's brilliant scripts will have an audience hooked into this adulterous story from the start. At its heart, though, it's about love, and I'm excited to have an addictive love story on ITV."

Adultery premieres tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
