Indian tourists paid RM1k to smuggle ketamine into Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: An international drug trafficking syndicate recruited Indian tourists to smuggle ketamine into Malaysia in modified luggage bags, paying each courier about RM1,000.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the syndicate concealed drugs in specially modified luggage compartments to evade detection during airport security checks.
He said the operation, codenamed Op Plekoptera, uncovered a trafficking network believed to have been active since March this year.
"The syndicate used Indian citizens to bring drugs into Malaysia. They concealed the drugs in specially modified luggage bags.
"Each courier was paid about RM1,000," he told a press conference.
