Washington jewelry store owner opens fire after would-be thieves ram truck through storefront

Masked would-be thieves smashed a pickup truck through the front of a Washington jewelry store in broad daylight and stormed inside — only to be sent scrambling when the store owner pulled a gun and opened fire, according to authorities and a local report.
The attempted robbery unfolded shortly after 12:25 p.m. on Tuesday at Medina Jewelers in Lynnwood.
Surveillance video shows three vehicles circling the parking lot before a white Toyota Tacoma barrels through the storefront, shattering glass and sending employees running.

The store owner grabbed a gun and fired, sending the group fleeing empty-handed, according to FOX13 Seattle.

No injuries were reported at the scene, though police said it was unclear whether any of the suspects had been struck by gunfire.
"It was broad daylight and a pretty rare occurrence for us," Lynnwood Police Cmdr. Joe Dickenson told the outlet.

Police were still working to determine whether any of the suspects had a firearm.
"You had several witnesses that were out and about, several pedestrians walking around, all of a sudden a car crashing into a building and shots ringing out is cause for alarm," Dickenson said.
The suspects escaped in a black BMW SUV and a silver Toyota or Infiniti sedan, police said. The BMW struck a parked vehicle while fleeing and may have damage to its front passenger side.
