‘Whitney’ singer wows at final Springbok home game [video]
Belinda Davids, who has built a career as a Whitney Houston tribute singer, performed another unforgettable national anthem at the FNB Stadium, where the Springboks played the All Blacks in the Greatest Rivalry series.
The talented performer – who once brought Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell to tears – sang at the final Boks test match for the year.
South Africa beat their New Zealand rivals 29-24. The fourth and final match will take place in Baltimore, Maryland, next weekend.
BELINDA DAVIDS WOWS WITH NATIONAL ANTHEM
Not for the first time, Belinda Davids was given the privilege of singing the national anthem for the Springboks.
The Gqeberha-born singer wore a bewelled gown in the colours of the South African flag as she belted out Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika in front of the crowd at the 96 000 seater FNB Stadium.
The performance was enough to make Springbok Deon Fourie weep!

Belinda last sang the national anthem for the Springboks’ match against Italy in Gqeberha, her hometown, last year.
Speaking ahead of the game, the singer told Daily Maverick: “You have no idea how exciting this is for me. Because I get to do it at home, what an honour. And it’s long overdue, to be honest. I can’t wait!”
THE GREATEST LOVE
Belinda Davids is well known for headlining the Whitney Houston tribute concert, The Greatest Love of All, across South Africa and around the world.
The talented star performs Whitney’s hit songs, such as I Will Always Love You, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and I’m Every Woman amongst others, in the two-hour production.
In 2017, Belinda won the BBC1 talent competition Even Better Than the Real Thing, performing as a Whitney Houston tribute artist.
Two years later, she received the special recognition award from the UK National Tribute Music Awards for her “global contribution to tribute performing”.

In 2020, Belinda moved Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell to tears during her audition, which blew up on social media. In 2023, she returned for the All-Star season, where she earned a Golden Buzzer pass.
Belinda comes from a family of seven children and grew up singing gospel in church.
Inspired by Whitney herself, she began performing professionally at just 14.
