Saurashtra top-order batter Aryan Savsani and Haryana batting allrounder Tanmay Baloda have been called up to the India Under-19 one-day and four-day squad respectively for the upcoming series against Australia Under-19, as replacements for the suspended Rohit Yadav, the BCCI announced on Tuesday morning.
Rohit, a Bengal legspinner who was part of the U-19 tour of Sri Lanka in July this year, was handed a two-year ban for age discrepancy last Friday.
The discrepancy came to light when the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) conducted a pre-season documentation drive for its players. Rohit was withdrawn from the U-19 squad straightaway. Rohit, who has represented Bengal in the age-group circuit, is understood to have an age-discrepancy of 27 months.
The CAB has also barred 64 others for similar age discrepancies. This includes Ravi Kumar, a former India U-19 World Cup winner who was a standout performer in the 2022 final against England in the Caribbean.
Lakshya Raichandani will lead India U-19 in the one-day series against Australia U-19, with Yashbardhan Chauhan as his deputy. The roles will be reversed for the multi-day fixtures.
The one-day squad includes Aaryavir Sehwag and Anvay Dravid, sons of former India captains Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid respectively. Anvay Dravid was part of Sri Lanka tour in July, and scored 87 in the second one-day game. He is one of two wicketkeepers alongside Rajat Baghel.
The three one-day matches will be played on September 18, 21 and 23, while the four-day fixtures are scheduled for September 27 to 30 and for October 5 to 8. All the matches except the second four-dayer, which will be played in Ahmedabad, will be held in Rajkot.
