Chennai

P.V. Sindhu won the Hylo Open 2026 women’s singles title on Sunday, beating Denmark’s Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 21-14 in the final in Saarbrücken on Sunday.

It was Sindhu’s second title of the season, after the Japan Open in July.

AS IT HAPPENED: PV Sindhu vs Kjaersfeldt, Hylo Open 2026 Final Highlights

Kjaersfeldt made the early forays, leading 5-3 in the opening game. Sindhu, however, was not rattled. She used her height to send steep baseline clears deep, mixed in sharp cross-court smashes, and pushed forward to the net to force the Dane into early defensive errors.

Freshness was on her side.

She had come through her semifinal in straight games, while Kjaersfeldt had gone the distance the previous day in a long three-game battle with Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong. Sindhu kept testing whether Kjaersfeldt’s legs still had their spring.

Sindhu took the opening game 21-12 and made it look routine. She trapped Kjaersfeldt in the back corners with deep clears, then punished the weak replies with sharp, angled drops and sudden cross-court smashes.

She carried her momentum into the second game, opening up a 7-3 lead. Her high, looping clears kept Kjaersfeldt pinned to the back of the court, leaving the Dane little room to plot a comeback.
