Fire guts Abuja gas outlet

An explosion and fire at a gas outlet around Liberty Junction in Kubwa, Abuja, caused panic on Sunday morning.
The Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, said its firefighters and other emergency responders swiftly responded to the incident at about 6:30am and contained the fire, averting what could have been a major gas explosion.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page on Sunday, the command said, “Federal Fire Service, FCT Command firefighters and other emergency responders today, Sunday 27th September 2026 at about 6:30am swiftly responded to a gas fire at Liberty Junction, Kubwa, Abuja, averting what would have been a major destructive gas explosion.”
The command also shared a video showing its personnel at the scene containing the fire.
The video showed the building at the gas outlet extensively burnt, with smoke rising from the site.

Vehicles and motorcycles around the facility also appeared to have been burnt.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage or casualties, if any, were not disclosed by the Federal Fire Service.
