As the Michelin Guide continues to expand to new cities, so must its television series. Apple TV has given the official green light to season three of its culinary docuseries, Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars.

The series, which comes from executive producer Gordon Ramsay, takes cameras around the globe and into the kitchens of the chefs fighting for the most prestigious accolade in restaurants: a Michelin star. Some chefs are going for their first, some are going for more and many are just trying to hold onto their cred.

Hosted by TopJaw frontman and co-founder Jesse Burgess, the first two eight-episode seasons are streaming on Apple TV now. “I’m absolutely delighted that Apple TV audiences and chefs from all around the world have truly embraced Knife Edge,” Ramsay said in a statement. “Taking viewers on the journey towards Michelin stars is like climbing aboard an epic rollercoaster. You’d better hold on tight, because it’s one hell of a ride.”

What distinguishes the show, easily Apple TV’s most ambitious entry into the popular food space, is the access its been given by The Michelin Guide. After all, this is an institution that prizes itself on secrecy, deploying its undercover diners to restaurants the world in hopes of getting an accurate reporting of a typical dining experience.

“What I love most about making Knife Edge is that, however much time I spend in restaurants around the world, I’m constantly surprised by the extraordinary people and stories we discover,” said Burgess. “Behind every restaurant is a very personal journey, and for the chefs we follow, a Michelin Star can represent years of sacrifice, obsession and an enormous amount of hard work.”

Knife Edge has been a unique entry into the Apple TV catalog, marrying travel, culinary competition and docudrama. It’s been enough to attain a 100 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and earn a nomination at the BAFT Television Awards.

The series is produced by Apple TV by Studio Ramsay Global, a Fox Entertainment Company. Executive producers are Ramsay, Lisa Edwards, Lorraine Charker-Phillips and Jill Greenwood, with James Callum serving as the series director.
