The India-A squad for the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2026 was announced on Monday and the attention now turns to the side’s opponents during the continental event.
The Tilak Varma-led team is in Group B, pitted against Nepal, UAE and its arch-rival Pakistan-A. This means the Rising Stars Asia Cup will feature the iconic rivalry with India-A taking on Pakistan-A on Sunday, November 22.
India-A will have redemption on its agenda this time around since it suffered a defeat at the hands of Pakistan-A in the previous edition.
After being inserted in, India-A folded for 136 runs with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi top scoring with a 28-ball 45. However, a middle-order collapse left India short of a fighting score. Naman Dhir, who recently debuted for India, was the next highest scorer with 35 off 20.
Pakistan blazed away to the target inside 14 overs and won by eight wickets, riding on opener Maaz Sadaqat’s unbeaten 47-ball 79.
However, this time, the fixture will be played in the 50-over format, since this tournament aims to shore up the young players before the ODI World Cup in 2027.
