Orb, 100 Meters Manga Creator Uoto to Launch 2 New Manga Series
Orb: On the Movements of the Earth artist Uoto announced two new manga series on Friday and Saturday.
Hallucination Meat will launch in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine. The launch date is still to be determined, but Uoto thinks it will be this year. The artist had teased the announcement with a diagram of a methane molecule.

Uoto will partner as the story writer with artist Kyō Yoneshiro on the series Test Taker/Cheaters. The title will launch in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine. Its launch date is also still to be determined, but Uoto thinks it will be at the start of next year. He had teased the announcement with an image of a pencil and a handgun.

Uoto launched the Orb: On the Movements of the Earth (Chi -Chikyū no Undō ni Tsuite-) manga in Weekly Big Comic Spirits in September 2020, and ended it in April 2022. Shogakukan published the manga's eighth and final compiled book volume in June 2022. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga. With this manga, Uoto became the youngest ever to win the Grand Prize for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize awards at 24 years old in April 2022. The manga was nominated for the 68th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2022. The manga ranked at #22 in Da Vinci's "Book of the Year" manga list in 2022. The manga's 25-episode anime adaptation premiered in October 2024, annd episodes streamed on Netflix and ABEMA after each episode's airing.
Uoto's 100 Meters (Hyakuemu) manga inspired an anime film that premiered in Japan in September 2025. GKIDS screened the film in North American theaters in October 2025.
Kaneshiro launched the Netsuzō: Chijin no Ai (Fabrication: A Fool's Love) manga, based on Junichirō Tanizaki's 1924 novel Chijin no Ai (published in English under the title Naomi), in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine on August 3.
Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ service published Yoneshiro's "The 11th hour" one-shot manga in October 2025. Shueisha's MANGA Plus service published the one-shot in English.
Uoto and Furumachi ended the Dr. Muscle Beetle manga in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in May 2025. The manga launched in Weekly Shōnen Champion in January 2025. Akita Shoten shipped the second compiled book volume on July 8. Uoto is credited for the first volume's original concept.
Yoneshiro launched the Ageku no Hate Kanon (And he arrived at the KANON) manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Spirits magazine, and the Ōjōgiwa no Imi o Shire! manga in Weekly Big Comic Spirits in 2020.
