In the long, wonderful history of dogs, there may be no pup who is more loved than Snoopy. The beagle who counts on Charlie Brown to get his meals and is best pals with a bird has worked his way into the hearts of everyone that has ever seen him, and for good reason. Snoopy isn't just a good dog — all dogs are good — he is perhaps the most interesting dog to ever exist. The famous canine has lived an exciting life, working as a Scout Leader, an attorney, a best-selling author, a very cool college student, and a heroic World War I flying ace taking on the dreaded Red Baron (though, to be fair, almost all of these adventures only happened in his mind).

Snoopy became a start the moment Charles Schulz introduced him to the readers of Peanuts. And while his confidence and attitude may lead some to believe that Snoopy is an only child, he was actually just one pup in a litter of eight that was born at the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm. Over the years, fans have been introduced to seven of his brothers and sisters, and while none of them could ever hold a candle to the world's smartest dog, Snoopy's siblings are all pretty special in their own ways.

Spike Is Snoopy's Most Famous Sibling

First introduced in 1975, Spike is a good dog with a dark past. Always seen with long, drooping whiskers that resemble a mustache and his trusty hat, the very thin Spike lives alone in the desert, having abandoned humanity after a terrifying incident left him fearing for the safety of others. Just like how Snoopy has Charlie Brown to look after him, Spike started off with a loving family who fed him and took him for walks. It was during one of those walks where everything went bad.

When a rabbit crossed their path, Spike's owners commanded him to catch it. Being an obedient dog, Spike chased the rabbit, despite having no idea what he was supposed to do if and when he caught it. But Spike didn't need to figure out the next step because the poor rabbit ended up running into the road and being hit by a car. Ashamed that his actions, and the command of his owners, caused the rabbit's death, Spike ran off and went into exile, promising to never hurt another living thing again.

In the Peanuts strip, Spike would often write to Snoopy or show up for a visit. He lived with a group of coyotes for a time, but they were never very nice to the poor pup, so he decided to go it alone, selecting a cactus to become his only friend. Spike proved popular enough that he even received his own TV special, "It's the Girl in the Red Truck, Charlie Brown."

Belle Has A Disappointing Son

A year after Charles Schulz introduced Spike, he revealed the second of Snoopy's siblings; Belle. Snoopy first went to see Belle when he was attempting to play at Wimbledon, which he believed was near Kansas City, despite Charlie Brown telling him Wimbledon is in England. When he arrived in Kansas City, Snoopy reunited with his sister, who looks almost exactly like him, but with long eyelashes and a pink collar. Belle has a very tall son who Snoopy is not fond of, calling him a disappointment in a letter he sent to Charlie Brown, questioning whether the boy is a purebred beagle while commenting on his lanky body.

While Belle only appeared in the Peanuts comics a few times, she was a common piece of Peanuts merchandise for a time, acting as a stuffed animal that may be more desired by girls (though why anyone thought girls wouldn't want a stuffed toy of Snoopy is baffling). Because she was not a well-known figure outside of diehard Peanuts fans, a lot of people came to believe that Belle was Snoopy's girlfriend.

Marbles Is The Black Sheep Of The Family

Charles Schulz introduced Snoopy's third sibling, Marbles, in 1982. With his brown spots and a tendency to wear shoes, he instantly stands out from his brothers and sisters, but those aren't the only things that make him different. While his kin have active imaginations, sometimes even joining Snoopy in his fantasies of being heroes in World War I, Marbles prefers to live in a world of logic and questions the world around him.

The "long-lost brother," Marbles is the smartest member of the family, but he has some trouble with direction. When he was first introduced, poor Marbles contacted Snoopy hoping his brother could help him find a new family to live with after he left his home and got lost. When he traveled to meet Snoopy, Marbles ended up going to the wrong house and spent a night with Peppermint Patty. Readers soon learned that Marbles had gone through a number of families, but always ended up going for a walk alone and then getting lost. Marbles struggles to understand other dogs, especially the way they walk, believing that they trot along at an angle to keep their front paws from hitting their back feet.

Olaf Is Snoopy's Witty Sibling

Always seen in his cap and often with his tongue hanging out, Olaf has the quickest wit of the family, but his appearance suggests that he may also be the laziest. With a great love for food, Olaf is, as he likes to refer to himself, "roly-poly," and was once kicked out of Charlie Brown's home because the boy's father couldn't keep buying food for him. To his dismay, Olaf once won an "Ugly Dog" contest.

While the rest of the family is relatively active, Olaf prefers to sit around and contemplate the meaning of life while coming up with witticisms. Olaf has fond memories of his mom, who used to read him his favorite book. In one strip, he wrote to his mom on Mother's Day, telling her about a recent fox hunt he took part in where he helped the fox escape the hunters. At one point, Olaf and his not very bright brother, Andy, attempted to go live with Spike in the desert but couldn't find their more famous sibling despite walking right past him.

Andy Is The Scruffy Member Of The Family

Unlike the other Snoopy siblings Charles Schulz created, Andy didn't make his debut in the Peanuts comics. Instead, he first appeared in the 1991 TV special, "Snoopy's Reunion" that explored the lives of Snoopy and his family from their early days at the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm to the modern day. Andy made his way into the strip three years later and is always close to Olaf's side.

Shaggier than his brothers and sisters, Andy was based on Schulz's own dog, a wire-haired fox terrier. While not the smartest member of the family, Andy does appear to be a loving and loyal pup, especially to his brother Olaf. While he lived on a farm with Olaf for a time, the two decided to move out and ended up wandering around throughout the rest of the strip's run, but not for lack of wanting a new home. Rerun van Pelt attempted to adopt Andy and Olaf, but his mom wouldn't allow it. Still, Andy and Olaf made sure to pay Snoopy a visit once a year.

Molly And Rover Never Appeared In The Peanuts Comics

Making their debut along with Andy in "Snoopy's Reunion," Molly and Rover were the only members of Snoopy's family that Charles Schulz did not create himself. Molly is differentiated from sister Belle by her dress that looks a lot like the one Lucy wears. Along with the dress, Molly also has her own makeup kit, which suggests that she is the most pampered of the siblings (other than Snoopy). Rover looks a lot like Snoopy, but with brown ears instead of black. Beyond that, and his ability to play the dobro, Rover is a mystery.

While Schulz never had Molly and Rover show up in the strip, there is at least one reference to them on a Father's Day card all the children send to their dad with their paw prints on it. Whether Schulz ever had plans to introduce the family member of the clan will remain a mystery.
