Bowen Yang And Reece Weaver Extend Broadway Engagements In ‘Oh, Mary!’ And ‘Chicago’ Due To Popular Demand

With their box office spiking, Bowen Yang and Reece Weaver have extended their Broadway runs in, respectively, Oh, Mary! and Chicago.

Ticket sales have been very strong for both shows with the new, TV-famous cast members leading the way.

Yang will extend his run as Mary Todd Lincoln in Cole Escola’s Tony Award-winning comedy through January 17, 2027 (his limited engagement had been set to end December 6). The ex-SNL player made his Broadway debut in the role on September 15. (Yang’s co-stars are Phillip James Brannon, Barrett Foa, Bianca Leigh and Tony Macht).

Weaver, best known for her breakout participation in Netflix’s reality show America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, will continue playing Chicago‘s Roxie Hart through Sunday, November 1. She had initially been scheduled through Sunday, October 18. She made her Broadway debut in the role on September 7.

The current cast of Chicago also includes Lissa deGuzman, NaTasha Yvette Williams, Max von Essen, Red Concepción and J. Workman.

Oh, Mary!, which has been a strong Broadway draw since its opening in 2024, saw its biggest gross in months last week after Yang’s arrival: The show sold out and took in $1,517,701, it’s top draw this season other than the $1,576,984 gross when then-star Maya Rudolph neared the end of her popular engagement in the title role.

Likewise, Weaver’s first two weeks in Chicago were sell-outs, with grosses for her first week at $997,133 and her second week at $995,132. Those takes were by far the largest since May when Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt concluded her run as Roxie with a weekly gross of $1,688,129.
