Alan Ritchson is making swift progress on Reacher season 5 after launching a new era in the franchise this year.

With record-breaking streaming success and widespread critical acclaim being maintained since the Prime Video series' 2022 debut, Reacher isn't slowing down anytime soon. Coinciding with Reacher season 4's finale on September 16, Prime Video launched the show's first spinoff series, Neagley, on the same day as a resounding hit. Shortly after, Prime Video confirmed that Reacher was renewed for season 6 and Neagley would return for season 2, with Reacher season 5's production having already been well underway.

Now that a month has passed since Reacher season 4's ending, star and executive producer Alan Ritchson has received more online inquiries about when season 5 will be released on Prime Video. While Ritchson cleverly dodged giving an exact timeline for the upcoming outing's premiere, jokingly saying it'll be "ten years or less," the actor did confirm that Reacher season 5 is "over halfway done filming" as of October 16.

The highly-anticipated Reacher season 5 kicked off production on July 21, so with it now being over halfway done, that timeline suggests that filming could wrap as soon as December 2026. In comparison, Reacher season 4 filming occurred over the course of almost exactly five months between June and November 2025 ahead of its premiere on August 12, 2026. If the new outing follows this same release strategy, then Reacher season 5 could potentially arrive on Prime Video as early as September 2027.

While release details are still under wraps, Prime Video announced that Reacher season 5 will adapt Lee Child's book Make Me. Published in 2015, Make Me is the 20th novel in Child's Jack Reacher book series, and is considered one of the darkest entries in the franchise. The first four seasons of Reacher adapted Child's books Killing Floor, Bad Luck and Trouble, Persuader, and Gone Tomorrow, respectively.

In addition to Ritchson returning as Jack Reacher, the new cast of Reacher season 5 is confirmed to include Amanda Ip as Michelle Chang, Jay Baruchel as Chief Buck Bauer, Ciara Bravo as Eunice, and Kevin Durand as Nokes. So far, Prime Video has yet to clarify whether Maria Sten will return as Frances Neagley in season 5 of the main series.

As the wait for season 5 to conclude production and release on Prime Video continues, Reacher will soon be gearing up for a packed filming schedule as it aims to shoot season 6 of the flagship series and season 2 of its first spinoff. Prime Video still hasn't announced an official filming start window for Reacher season 6 or Neagley season 2 following their recent renewals.
