2027: APC plans nationwide rallies, starts with Kaduna October 24

Translate

The All Progressives Congress has proposed a nationwide rally schedule ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the campaign activities expected to begin in Kaduna State on October 24, 2026, and end with a major rally in Lagos on January 9, 2027.

The proposed schedule, shared by the ruling party on Thursday, lists rallies across the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, with 12 locations designated for expected presidential attendance.

The party said the schedule was designed to cover the country’s six geopolitical zones, although it did not name the president in the graphic as the person expected to attend the highlighted rallies.

The schedule, however, stated: “This is a proposed schedule and is subject to official confirmation.”

The first rally is scheduled for October 24 in Kaduna, Kaduna State, followed by Calabar, Cross River State, on November 2, and Gombe, Gombe State, on November 3.

Other locations listed for November include Lafia, Nasarawa State; Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State; Port Harcourt, Rivers State; Abakaliki, Ebonyi State; Dutse, Jigawa State; Akure, Ondo State; Benin City, Edo State; Jos, Plateau State; Yenagoa, Bayelsa State; Damaturu, Yobe State; Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State; Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; Ibadan, Oyo State; Maiduguri, Borno State; Enugu, Enugu State; and Bauchi, Bauchi State.

For December, the schedule lists Makurdi, Benue State; Katsina, Katsina State; Abeokuta, Ogun State; Sokoto, Sokoto State; Umuahia, Abia State; Lokoja, Kogi State; Osogbo, Osun State; Ilorin, Kwara State; Asaba, Delta State; Gusau, Zamfara State; Minna, Niger State; Kano, Kano State; Jalingo, Taraba State; Abuja, the FCT; and Owerri, Imo State.

The proposed activities are scheduled to continue into January, with a rally in Yola, Adamawa State, on January 4, followed by the major closing rally in Lagos on January 9.

The 12 locations marked for expected presidential attendance are Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Jos, Ibadan, Maiduguri, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Asaba, Kano, Yola and Lagos.

Recall that Tinubu said he would not accompany the APC Presidential Campaign Council to every campaign event ahead of the 2027 general election, citing the need to prioritise governance, economic obligations and efforts to attract investors.

Tinubu made the declaration on Wednesday in Abuja while inaugurating the APC Presidential Campaign Council, urging its members to lead the party’s mobilisation efforts across the country while he continued to attend to matters of state.

Anambra missing from proposed rally schedule

A check by our correspondent noted that Anambra State was omitted from the proposed rally schedule, despite the state being governed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

The omission comes days after the APC included Soludo, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in its revised presidential campaign council for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Soludo was named campaign coordinator for Anambra State, while Adeleke was assigned to coordinate campaign activities in Osun State. Wike was named coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT.

The appointments attracted attention because the three politicians are associated with parties other than the APC.

Soludo belongs to APGA, Adeleke won the Osun governorship election under the Accord Party, while Wike is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Despite their inclusion in the campaign council, Anambra was not among the locations listed in the proposed nationwide rally schedule.

The APC’s graphic does not explain why the state was omitted.

The presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Meanwhile, the APC, while urging the general public to note, stated that its “rally schedule remained subject to official confirmation and possible adjustments.”
