Revenue board hails Delta, Ondo over tax harmonisation

Translate

The Joint Revenue Board has commended the governments of Delta and Ondo States for making progress in tax harmonisation, describing the developments as significant milestones in the implementation of Nigeria’s tax reforms.

The board congratulated the Delta State Government following the signing of the Delta State Tax Harmonisation Bill into law by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

It also commended the Ondo State House of Assembly for the successful passage of the Ondo State Harmonised Tax Bill, noting that the development marked another important step towards strengthening the state’s tax administration framework.

In a statement issued on Thursday, by the Communication and Stakeholder Liaison Department of the board, the JRB said the achievements by both states represented significant progress in efforts to harmonise taxes and levies at the subnational level.

According to the board, the commitment demonstrated by the two states would contribute to building a more transparent, coordinated and business-friendly tax system.

It noted that effective tax harmonisation would help eliminate multiple taxation, improve voluntary compliance and enhance sustainable revenue generation.

The board further stressed the importance of a simplified and efficient tax administration system in supporting businesses and strengthening Nigeria’s revenue framework.

“Together, we are building a simpler, fairer and more efficient tax system for all Nigerians,” the statement said.
