Sphere Media & Paul Barbeau Team Up To Bring TV Drama To Quebec

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Bruno Dubé’s Sphere Media and Canadian producer Paul Barbeau have joined forces to bring international TV drama series to Quebec.

Sphere’s recent drama credits include Cardinal and Netflix’s Mae Martin-starrer Wayward and it also part-owns Heated Rivalry distributor Sphere Abacus. It will work with Barbeau, through his Fairmount Films banner, to identify opportunities to bring scripted TV production to Quebec and then work with and support those projects.

“I cannot wait to bring new scripted series production opportunities to Quebec and plan on making it a major international production hub going forward,” Barbeau said.

The new partners said that the collaboration will combine Barbeau’s network and production experience with Sphere’s infrastructure, resources and production capabilities.

Barbeau will introduce scripted projects to Sphere. He will also serve as Line Producer on some projects, overseeing production logistics and budgets. Sphere will provide the corporate and administrative structure for the productions that get underway.

“When I heard Paul wanted to bring service work on scripted series to Quebec, I seized the opportunity to make an alliance with him,” said Dubé, CEO and President Sphere Media. “This partnership will strengthen Sphere’s service production offering, and position Quebec as an attractive destination for Canadian, American and international scripted television productions.”

Montreal-based producer Barbeau has almost three decades of experience in Canadian and international film production and has expanded into scripted TV. His credits include To Catch a Killer, Pieces of a Woman and Arrival.

“Paul will combine attracting projects and building relationships with producers and applying the same physical production disciplines he has successfully developed in feature films to series,” Dubé said.
