Creative Artists Agency has signed Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan, and their media and entertainment company Unwell for representation, a move that has been in discussions for weeks.

CAA will work with the duo to expand their business of Unwell, their content company, while supporting growth and the development of original intellectual property.

Unwell in August announced it had accepted a strategic investment from Patrick Whitesell’s investment firm WTSL, which valued the company at $500 million. Since its founding in 2023, Unwell has expanded into a media and entertainment company focused on Gen Z women. The company, built on the success of Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, aims to develop original programming, cultivate emerging talent, and create entertainment and experiences for younger audiences.

Cooper and Kaplan have expanded Unwell’s leadership team over the past year, adding seasoned executives to work alongside Chief Marketing Officer T.J. Marchetti: media and technology veteran Joanne Bradford as President; former NFL and Raine Group executive Samir Sama as Head of Ventures and Corporate Development; previous Meta and Disney executive Mina Lefevre as Chief Content Officer and Head of Television; former Misfits Gaming and Fox Networks Group executive Lagen Nash as Executive Vice President of Revenue; and former CAA agent Olivia Owen as Head of Talent.

Since launching in 2018, Cooper’s podcast has become known for featuring candid conversations with leading figures across entertainment, politics, sports, and culture. The show is distributed through a partnership with SiriusXM, which also powers the Unwell audio channel on SiriusXM’s satellite radio service.

Kaplan is an entrepreneur and film and television producer who has been involved in projects such as “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before,” “The Perfect Date:” and “Spontaneous.”

Unwell’s slate includes Hulu’s “Call Her Alexc” documentary, a “Hannah Montana” anniversary special for Disney+, and the Netflix property “Let’s Marry Harry.” Upcoming projects include Netflix’s adaptation of the novel “Icebreaker” and an adaptation of the novel “Deep End.” The Unwell Network has launched seven new programs in 2026 Its YouTube programming includes “Unwell Winter Games” and “Unwell Summer Games,” two reality competition series.

To help steer this growth, Cooper and Kaplan have expanded Unwell’s leadership team over the past year, adding seasoned executives to work alongside Chief Marketing Officer T.J.

Cooper, Kaplan, and Unwell continue to be represented by attorneys Matt Thompson and Emily Zipperstein at Sidley Austin LLP; James Feldman at Lichter Grossman Nichols Feldman Rogal Shikora & Clark; and Shaun Gordon at Weintraub Tobin.
