The NEPAD Business Group Nigeria has urged the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to sustain efforts to promote private-sector development across the country.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Chairman of NBGN, Bashorun J. K. Randle, said it is critical to Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global economy.
The group also stressed the need for policies that would encourage private investment, strengthen local businesses and create an enabling environment for enterprises to thrive.
The statement read, “A stronger private sector could contribute to economic growth through job creation, increased productivity, industrialisation and the development of local industries.
“The effective collaboration between the public and private sectors will mobilise investment, improve productivity and promote innovation across key sectors of the economy.

“A sustained private-sector development strategy would also help Nigerian businesses become more competitive, expand their operations and take advantage of opportunities in regional and international markets.”
The group also commended the late Bamanga Tukur for pioneering private-sector development in Nigeria.
“His life was defined by service, vision, and dedication to national advancement. In his capacity as Executive President, Grand Patron, and President Emeritus of the African Business Roundtable, ABR, he was instrumental in conceptualising the organisation.
“His conviction that the African private sector must play a central role in wealth creation, employment generation, investment promotion, and sustainable development remains as relevant today as it was when NBGN was conceived,” the Chairman stated.
