Before its final Pool A fixture against Bangladesh, India’s semifinal opponent at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, was confirmed as arch-rival Pakistan.
Earlier in the day, South Korea beat host Japan 3-2 in the other Pool A fixture, a result that moved Korea into second place in the group.
Irrespective of its result against Bangladesh, the Harmanpreet Singh-led Indian team will finish top of Pool A, having already amassed 12 points. Even a win for Bangladesh would take it to a maximum of nine points.
India, therefore, will face Pakistan, which finished as the Pool B runner-up, in the semifinal on October 1.
India had secured its place in the semifinals with a 2-0 win over Japan earlier in the group stage.
