Olivia Colman's next movie role alongside Unforgotten star has been revealed

The first trailer for Bollywoof teases Olivia Colman's next movie role, and it's very different from Wicker. The Broadchurch icon is set to appear in the animated film, which will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on January 22, alongside Unforgotten's Sanjeev Bhaskar and The Long Walk's David Jonsson.

Directed by Frederic Du Chau, Bollywoof is billed as "an epic adventure celebrating the importance of friendship, the true value of connection and the vitality of India."

A synopsis teases: "The lovable springer spaniel, Basil (Jonsson), is lost! Stranded in India, thousands of miles from his family, he embarks on an epic journey, making unforgettable friends as he makes his way home.

"A wild adventure across a vibrant India, travelling by paw, by plane, by rickshaw… and finding time for the occasional Bollywood dance routine."

It continues: "Bollywoof is an epic adventure celebrating the importance of friendship, the true value of connection and the vitality of India. A funny, heart-warming and beautifully animated tale for the whole family."

The cast is rounded out by The Big Bang Theory's Kunal Nayyar, One Day's Ambika Mod, and Notting Hill's Rhys Ifans.

The script will be penned by Stephen Leslie, while Jason Newmark, Bob Thompson, Andrew Baker, Laurie Cook, Nisha Parti, and Gregory Gavanski are signed on as producers.

Speaking to Variety, Newmark explained how they selected their star-studded voice cast for Bollywoof.

"We set out to build a voice cast that could match the scale and heart of the film, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve assembled," he said.

"David is about to become one of the biggest stars in the world, Olivia is one of the finest actors of her generation, and every name in this cast brings something special to the film."

It comes after Colman appeared alongside Alexander Skarsgård in Wicker, a bizarre romantic fantasy film that follows the Peep Show icon as an ostracised, lonely fisherwoman who commissions a local basket maker (Peter Dinklage) to weave her a husband.

The woven man comes to life (played by Skarsgård), with their relationship causing scandal in the village.

Bollywoof is released in the UK and Ireland on January 22.
