EastEnders reveals Ravi's reaction to Priya's baby secret

EastEnders viewers have been wanting for Ravi Gulati to find out the truth about his fiancée Priya Nandra-Hart's pregnancy, but star Aaron Thiara has teased that his character might defy expectations once he finds out.

Soap fans know how hot-headed Ravi can be, with the character only recently kidnapping Max Branning over his affair with Priya. What Ravi doesn't know – for now, at least – is that Priya's baby isn't his, but Max's.

Speaking at the National Television Awards (NTAs) earlier this month, Thiara suggested that Ravi could show a more "vulnerable" side should he discover the truth.

"I suppose in EastEnders fashion, he has to find [out] at some point, because that's where the drama's going to be," Thiara told Radio Times.

"Look, I think we've probably seen where he reacts quite impulsively and does what he knows by taking Max hostage and questioning him; that aired last week. That feels very much like Ravi of old," the star continued.

"Maybe this way, if it does come out, we will see a more heartfelt, vulnerable, heartbroken encounter, which is nice because you know we want to see different layers, light and shade."

Thiara was nominated for Best Serial Drama Performance at the NTAs for EastEnders' emotional storyline concerning Ravi's mental health.

Other nominees included Coronation Street's Sue Devaney and EastEnders' Paul Bradley for Debbie Webster and Nigel Bates' respective dementia storylines, as well as Corrie's Gareth Pierce for Todd Grimshaw's domestic abuse and coercion subplot, and Emmerdale star Joff Hordley for Cain Dingle's prostatic cancer diagnosis. It was Hordley who took home the award, with Emmerdale also winning the award for Best Serial Drama.

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
