What colours will the iPhone Duo be? Full design breakdown for Apple's newest foldable

Translate

The iPhone Duo is bringing a whole new era of design to Apple HQ.

The brand-new foldable is set for release this Friday (16 October) with a huge set of record-breaking specs, including being the company's thinnest and largest phone to date – unfolded that is.

When creating the device, Apple execs say they were determined to make sure it was smoother and sleeker than other foldables on the market.

Apple's CEO John Ternus told an audience at Apple's California headquarters: "Others have created foldables that just feel like two phones awkwardly stuck together". Apple's model, he claimed "redefine[s] the experience of using a foldable phone".

He continued: "It's entirely new and at the same time remarkably familiar. A similar size to your passport, it feels familiar to hold and comfortable to use with one hand."

In the UK, prices start at £1,999, but can go up to£3,199 00 depending on storage, but what about the really important bit? Colours. Below, we've given you a full breakdown of the iPhone Duo's fancy new design including colourways, size and feel.

What are the new iPhone Duo colourways?

iPhone Duo

The new iPhone Duo will be available in just two colours: Star White (a light silver) and Night Sky (a deep navy).

This is a departure from recent years which have produced far more radical colourways. This year's iPhone 18 saw burgundy and sky blue models and last years' iPhone 17 range came in vibrant orange and lilac.

As well as bearing a completely new foldable design, the iPhone Duo also has Apple's largest and thinnest phone screen ever. When opened, the device has a 7.6-inch inner display and is 5.2 mm (0.21 inches) thick when unfolded. When closed, it has a 5.4-inch display – which is still 90% of the size of the iPhone 18 Pro screen– and 11.3 mm (0.44 inches) thick.

Both displays are Super Retina XDR and share the same aspect ratio, so content scales proportionally to being open or closed. A premium nano-texture finish reduces glare and reflections, creating a matte surface that minimises crease visibility and feel. Plus, beneath the inner display, a new FaceTime camera stays hidden when not in use to keep the screen uninterrupted.

The displays also feature ProMotion (which keeps your phone scrolling and movement smooth) and Always On (which keeps a dimmed version of your lock screen visible at all time), plus 3000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. Later this year, iPhone Duo will support Apple Pencil with USB-C, allowing users to take notes, sketch, or mark up documents on either display.

Last but not least, Touch ID is integrated into the side button to get you in whether iPhone Duo is open or closed.

Will there be any special edition colours for the iPhone Duo?

No special edition colours have been confirmed, however iPhone have been known to produce exclusive colours on their site. They do currently have two iPhone Duo cases on offer which come in Sand and Navy colourways.
