Live Italian football returns to free-to-air terrestrial television tonight, as the Derby della Madonnina between Milan and Inter is on BBC2, complete with James Richardson, newspapers and gelato.
Many British fans of Calcio got their first glimpse of Serie A on Channel 4 during the 1990s and early 2000s, when Richardson hosted the coverage that brought live football from the best league in the world to a nation starved of free live games.

As part of a new agreement, BBC2 have brought Serie A back to British screens free to air with the massive Milan Derby live from San Siro this evening.
It kicks off at 19.45 GMT (20.45 local time) at the iconic Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the San Siro neighbourhood of the city, and this is the first derby since the stadium marked its Centenary.
You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from today’s Serie A games on the Liveblog.

This will also be one of the last chances to enjoy the sight of the towers and the beams criss-crossing the roof, because this structure will be torn down in 2032 and replaced with the new Stadio Generali.
Meanwhile, BBC2 decided to stick with the classics for this coverage, meaning James Richardson, his stack of newspapers, and some gelato.
The ‘Halloween derby’ is coming… and it’s such a crucial match for both teams! 🎃
