Nigerian Referee Abdulsalam Named For FIFA U-17 World Cup

Nigerian referee Kasimu Abdulsalam has been selected by the Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, to officiate at the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, Completesports.com reports.

Abdulsalam is among the 81 match officials appointed for the tournament, which will run from November 19 to December 13.

The young referee is one of four centre referees selected from Africa for the competition,.

Eight assistant referees from the continent were also included in FIFA’s list.

Abdulsalam has previously officiated at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, including the 2023 and 2026 editions, and his selection represents another major milestone in his refereeing career.

The tournament will be hosted by Qatar, although Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets will miss out after failing to qualify for the competition for a second consecutive edition.
