Belgium call six Serie A players for Nations League against Italy

New coach Mark van Bommel has named his Belgium squad for the Nations League, including against Italy, with six Serie A players.

The Red Devils are in Nations League Group A along with Italy, France and Turkiye.

They open their campaign and make the debut under coach Van Bommel away to Italy on September 25, followed by hosting France on September 28.

They take on Turkiye on October 2 and then visit France on October 5.

Their group concludes on Turkish soil on November 12 and at home to Italy on November 15.

Van Bommel is a former Serie A player himself, having worn the Milan jersey in the 2011-12 campaign, and took over as coach from Rudi Garcia this summer.

His first squad includes Milan defender Koni De Winter, Bologna’s new buy Arthur Theate, Napoli midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, Parma’s Mandela Keita, Atalanta forward Charles De Ketelaere and Rossoneri winger Diego Moreira.

There are also some familiar faces, as Romelu Lukaku and Lois Openda only left Serie A in recent weeks.
