LUCENA CITY — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)  rescued two fishermen after their boat almost sank near the port of Atimonan town in Quezon, on Tuesday (Sept. 15).

According to a report, Coast Guard personnel who were conducting a pre-departure inspection aboard a passenger vessel spotted the partially submerged motorless fishing boat near the Atimonan feeder port in Barangay Zone 1.

A team was immediately dispatched to rescue the fishermen and to help pull their distressed boat safely to shore.

The fishermen told authorities that strong waves suddenly struck their boat while they were fishing. /apl
