Jaymo Ule Msee Explains How Sifuna’s Presidential Ambitions Inspired His 2027 Nairobi Senate Bid

Social media personality and aspiring politician Wilson Muirani Gathoni, widely known as Jaymo Ule Msee, has revealed that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s shift toward national politics was the main catalyst for his decision to enter the 2027 Nairobi senatorial race.

In a statement shared online on Monday, October 19, 2026, Jaymo explained that his bid took shape in late 2025 after he concluded that the incumbent senator was prioritizing his national political ambitions over his county responsibilities.

“The journey for the Nairobi senatorial bid started late last year when it also became apparent that our senator was more focused with ‘national ambitions’ at the expense of our city senatorial obligations & responsibilities,” Jaymo stated.

He argued that the capital city requires full-time representation rather than leadership distracted by higher political ambitions.

“Our city requires leaders who are not double dealers but optimists who can commit fully until NAIROBI VILE INAFAA 🇰🇪,” he added, concluding his message with, “The journey continues, Mashallah.”

Declaring Intent on a Ruling Party Ticket

Jaymo’s remarks follow his recent reaffirmation of his political ambitions, triggered in part by East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Winnie Odinga’s entry into the Nairobi senatorial race.

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, Jaymo unveiled a digital campaign poster featuring himself alongside President William Ruto. Draped in the yellow-and-green branding of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the poster carried the slogan “Vote Jaymo Ule Msee for Senator Nairobi County 2027,” officially signaling his intent to seek the UDA nomination.

A Crowded Race for Nairobi’s Senate Seat

With incumbent Senator Edwin Sifuna refocusing his efforts on a national political trajectory, a diverse lineup of contenders has emerged to succeed him.

East African Legislative Assembly MP Winnie Odinga has officially declared her candidacy, urging young people to step up and take charge of county leadership. Lang’ata MP and comedian-turned-politician Jalang’o has also signaled his readiness for a competitive contest, declaring that he is prepared to go all the way to the wire.

Musician and businessman KRG The Don is seeking the post under the National Economic Development Party (NEDP), an outfit associated with former Governor Mike Sonko. Former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo is positioning himself for a political comeback, while prominent lawyer Cecil Miller and United Opposition youth leader Ken Babu are both actively laying the groundwork for their respective bids. Additionally, Nominated Senator Crystal Asige’s name continues to feature in discussions surrounding prospective candidates for the seat.

As candidates align themselves with various political outfits, the race for the Nairobi Senate seat is quickly shaping up to be one of the most closely watched political battles in the 2027 General Election.
