Soldiers pursue BIFF members in BARMM-SGA villages

TUGUNAN, BARMM-SGA — Combined elements of the Army’s 40th, 99th and 92nd Infantry Battalions launched a tactical operation early Saturday morning, Sept. 19, against elements of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) – Bungos Faction in Tugunan town in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro region.
According to an initial report from the Tugunan municipal police station, the military operation began at around 6:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Sitio Gawang, Barangay Manaulanan and Barangay Balong.

The operation specifically targets BIFF members led by Daureen Manampan, alias “Marines,” and a certain Zorin.

In response, personnel from the Tugunan police and the 1405th Regional Mobile Force Battalion under Police Capt. Sales Zaragosa III, have been placed on standby to monitor the situation.
