WATCH: Escudero explains why pre-VP SALNs are included

MANILA, Philippines – The defense team, on Day 25 of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, objects to the prosecution’s offer of testimony from lawyer Karen Batu, saying it includes SALNs from periods when Vice President Sara Duterte was not yet an impeachable officer.

Presiding Officer Francis Escudero, however, rules that the earlier SALNs are necessary to establish a baseline for determining the changes in Duterte’s declared wealth during her term as vice president.

Escudero also clarifies that admitting SALNs from before Duterte became vice president does not add new charges against her.
