Super Falcons Drop Seven Places In Latest FIFA Rankings

Translate

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have dropped seven places in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on Tuesday morning, falling from 36th to 43rd globally.

Despite the decline, the 10-time African champions retained their position as the highest-ranked women’s national team in Africa.

South Africa, Morocco, Ghana and Zambia occupy the second to fifth positions on the continent, respectively.

The Super Falcons’ drop in the global rankings follows a disappointing run of results, including their quarter-final exit at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where they suffered defeats to Malawi and Cameroon.

Nigeria also lost 2-1 to South Africa in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup play-offs.

However, the West Africans recorded two victories over Comoros in the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games.

Globally, the top five positions remain unchanged, with Spain retaining first place ahead of the United States, Germany, England and Japan.

The next edition of the FIFA Women’s World Rankings is scheduled for release on Monday, December 7, 2026.
