Here is what the weather has in store for KZN, the Free State, and the North West on Saturday 19 September 2026.

A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, damaging winds, hail, and excessive lightning, with localised flooding and possible damage to infrastructure and settlements expected over most of KwaZulu-Natal, except the extreme northern parts, as well as the north-eastern coastline and adjacent areas, while cloudy with morning fog patches and a chance of drizzle and isolated showers expected in the Free State and North West.

KWAZULU-NATAL

It will be cloudy and cool, with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Isolated showers expected over the north-eastern parts of KZN and adjacent interior.

Along the coast, winds will be light to moderate, northerly to north-easterly, becoming fresh in the afternoon, then light southerly.

The UVB sunburn index will be low.

DURBAN

Durban will be partly cloudy with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers.

The wind will be light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, becoming southerly to south-westerly in the afternoon

Temperatures will range from 17°C to 24°C.

FREE STATE

Cloudy with morning fog patches and a chance of drizzle in the extreme east at first, otherwise partly cloudy
and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the western and central parts.

BLOEMFONTEIN

Partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers

Bloemfontein will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers

Temperatures will range from a minimum of 11°C to a maximum of 22°C.

NORTH WEST

North West province will experience partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions, with isolated showers and thundershowers over the western parts.

MAHIKENG

Mahikeng is going to be partly cloudy.

Temperatures will range from a minimum of 13°C. to a maximum of 24°C.
