Strictly Come Dancing star Kai Widdrington has opened up about Delta Goodrem's "iconic" comeback plan following her injury. Earlier this week, the Australian singer announced that she would miss Icons Week after sustaining a rib injury.

Appearing on Friday's (16 October) episode of spin-off series It Takes Two, Kai shared that the pair were already planning their choreography for the following week, and even disclosed which song they would have danced to this week.

After being asked by host Ellie Taylor which song and dance he would have performed this week, he replied: "We would have been dancing the Cha Cha Cha to Olivia Newton-John's 'Xanadu'."

After Ellie suggested that he should "do it next week anyway", the pair replied: "We feel like it might be cursed, so we might not!"

Speaking about their plan for next week's show, Kai said: "We're going to slow things down a little next week and ease back into it. But as Delta reminded me today on FaceTime, 'it always has to be iconic'."

"So we have to make it iconic. So that's my job to choreograph it. I choreographed it today. It's gonna be slower than what we've done before," he added.

Announcing Delta's injury last week, a Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson said: "Due to injury, Delta Goodrem has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance on this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing.

"In line with the rules of the show, Delta and Kai will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish Delta the very best as she continues her recovery."

Delta shared her own statement, saying: "I'm absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won't be able to dance on Strictly this week. I've been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking - especially after the high of Saturday night."

She continued: "I can not tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show. I'm going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I'll be back on that dancefloor very soon."

"Thank you so much to everyone for all the love and support. It's so appreciated. I'll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week! Sending all my love, Delta xx."
