Fahmi: Dr Hasmah to be laid to rest beside Endon Mahmood at National Mausoleum

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — The remains of the late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali will be laid to rest beside the tomb of Tun Endon Mahmood, the late wife of Malaysia's fifth prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil disclosed this while sharing the funeral arrangements, after paying his respects at Dr Hasmah's family residence in Seri Kembangan earlier this afternoon.

Her remains were brought to the As-Syarif Mosque in Seri Kembangan for funeral prayers, before being transported to the National Mausoleum in Putrajaya for burial later this evening.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi shared that his wife, Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, had met with Dr Hasmah just last week through their shared ties in the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti).

Zahid said that Dr Hasmah's final conversation with his wife turned deeply spiritual, centring on faith and the afterlife.

“My wife told me that she (Dr Siti Hasmah) spoke a lot about God.

“She spoke a lot about the hereafter. She spoke a lot about the Assembly Place (Padang Mahsyar), as if she already knew that she would be leaving forever," Zahid said.

Dr Hasmah died this morning at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur. She was 100.
