US tenor Christopher Macchio booked for Xi-Trump state dinner performance
American tenor Christopher Macchio will perform at the White House banquet for Chinese President Xi Jinping during his first state visit to the United States in more than a decade.
“An honour to return to Washington DC to perform for the State Dinner with Donald Trump (originally @realDonaldTrump) and President Xi,” Macchio said on social media, tagging the official accounts of Trump, the White House, and the Trump campaign.
Often referred to as “America’s Tenor”, Macchio is a classical-crossover vocalist who has sung at Trump rallies and events since filling in at the Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve gala in 2015.
His announcement was posted shortly after Xi’s arrival at Joint Base Andrews for a three-day state visit, reciprocating Trump’s trip to Beijing in May.
