Duncan Sheik started his journey into the music scene with his debut single, ‘Barely Breathing,’ which ended up becoming a big hit and even scored him his first Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Since the start of his career, he has dedicatedly worked on creating and performing music and has released nine albums so far.Alongside creating independent music, Sheik also started working as a composer for stage productions and movie soundtracks around the early 2000s.

One of his first theatre works was for the 2002 production of ‘Twelfth Night’ for the New York Shakespeare Festival. Some of the well-known productions that he created music for included ‘Spring Awakening’ (2006), ‘American Psycho’ (2013/2016), ‘Alice by Heart’ (2019), ‘The Secret Life of Bees’ (2019), and many others.

For his work, he also won Tony Awards for Best Orchestrations, Best Original Score, and Best Musical, as well as a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album.On the work front, he also wrote the music and lyrics for an upcoming production titled ‘Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen.' The off-Broadway musical will have its previews on September 25, 2026. Later, the opening night is scheduled for October 15, 2026, and the closing date is set for January 3, 2027.
