Sarah Ferguson responds to rumours she’s writing tell-all memoir about royal family

Sarah Ferguson has “no plans to write any tell all memoir”, following reports that she received seven figure offers to write an autobiography.

It comes as Earl Spencer’s memoir about Princess Diana, Swan Song, has caused chaos for the Royal Family with a number of allegations about King Charles’ conduct towards his ex-wife during their marriage and after her tragic death in a car crash in 1997.

The Sun reported, citing publishing sources, that the the ex-wife of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was “days away” from a deal, following a secret bidding war over a book that could reveal her thoughts on her ex-husband, her relationship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the King, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The paper reported that Ms Ferguson believed she could use the book to “set the record straight” and earn some money to resolve financial issues.

However, a spokesperson for the former Duchess of York, 66, told The Independent: “Sarah Ferguson is not close to signing a mutli-million dollar book deal as has been reported. She has no plans to write any tell all memoir.”

Last month it was reported that Ms Ferguson could return to Britain after she moved overseas to Switzerland amid the fallout over her and her ex-husband’s friendship with Epstein.

Following the US Department of Justice’s decision to release three million files in a tranche on Epstein and his associates, more details became public on Ms Ferguson and Mountbatten-Windsor’s friendships with the disgraced financier.

Files released by the DoJ suggested that Ms Ferguson visited Epstein with her two daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, just days after Epstein was released from prison for soliciting prostitution from a minor. One email exchange saw her call Epstein the “brother I have always wished for” and later ask £20,000 for rent following the collapse of her business venture.

King Charles stripped Ms Ferguson and Mountbatten-Windsor of their titles in October over links with Epstein. They were evicted from Royal Lodge, Windsor, in February and a number of charities dropped her patronage.

Mountbatten-Windsor is currently subject to a police investigation for misconduct in public office. The former Duke of York has denied any wrongdoing in relation to his friendship with Epstein.

Speculation around another potential royal bombshell memoir comes as Earl Spencer faces potential legal action from Piers Morgan over Swan Song, a book about his sister Princess Diana. The former Daily Mirror editor said he was pursuing legal action against him and his publisher Penguin “to have the lies removed, and damages paid to the King’s Trust.”

The earl suggested Mr Morgan was responsible for publishing photographs, taken with hidden cameras, of Diana in a leotard working out at the gym, in the Daily Mirror newspaper in 1993.

But Mr Morgan was working at The Sun at the time, and did not join the Mirror as its editor until 1995.

The earl apologised and said, as a historian, “accuracy was important to him”, but he stood by his account that Mr Morgan was “surly and annoyed” when he called the journalist to tell him he was not welcome at Diana’s funeral.
