KUALA LUMPUR: A member of parliament has called on the authorities to disclose the name of the company behind a slaughterhouse raided for breaching halal certification rules.

Putrajaya MP Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin also called for the investigation into the company to be expedited.

"I am still waiting for the authorities to reveal the name of the company that runs the chicken processing facility raided in Puchong," he said in a Facebook post.

"Chickens were believed to have been processed by being submerged alive in scalding water until they died before being slaughtered."

Radzi said it was alarming that the poultry had reportedly been distributed to restaurants, grocery stores and supermarkets across Damansara, Bangi, Puchong, Cheras, Putra Perdana and Putrajaya.

"The public has a right to know the operator's name, company name, the exact location of the processing centre, the distributors, and where the chicken was supplied or sold to consumers," he said.

Yesterday, authorities raided the slaughterhouse in Puchong, seized more than 6.5 tonnes of raw chicken and arrested 12 foreign workers.
