Daraga in Albay equips 54 barangays with rescue vehicles
DARAGA, ALBAY, Philippines — Fifty-four barangays in this town have been equipped with rescue vehicles worth a total of P78 million to improve emergency response and disaster preparedness in their communities.
The vehicles, funded through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), were blessed by Rev. Fr. Tony Cial and turned over Friday (Sept. 4) during a ceremony at the Municipal Nursery in Barangay Gabawan led by Mayor Vic Perete and Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin Jr.

Perete said the vehicles, equipped with fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment, would allow barangays to respond to emergencies and other incidents without having to rely solely on the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

“We aim for zero casualty. May these rescue vehicles serve as a symbol of our continuing commitment to protect lives, strengthen disaster preparedness, and provide faster and more effective emergency response to the people of Daraga,” he said.
Perete thanked President Marcos and Ako Bicol party-list for helping facilitate the project and secure funding for the vehicles. /cb
