Betway Premiership weekend produced 16 goals

Matchweek 6 of the Betway Premiership kicked off on Friday, 11 September up to Sunday, 13 September 2026. Several of the league’s bigger clubs drop points while teams lower down the table continued to fight for valuable results.
HOW DID BETWAY PREMIERSHIP GIANTS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS AND KAIZER CHIEFS DO?
The weekend began on Friday night at Athlone Stadium, where Stellenbosch FC and Sekhukhune United played to a 1-1 draw. Saturday then produced more frustration for the leading sides. Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 1-1 draw by Chippa United at the Buffalo City Stadium.
The result ended Mamelodi Sundowns’ winning run, although the reigning champions remained at the top of the Betway Premiership standings. Kaizer Chiefs also dropped points on the road after playing to a 1-1 draw against Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The only winner on Saturday came in Durban, where AmaZulu FC secured a 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants. The visitors were reduced to 10 men during the match as AmaZulu FC continued their progress up the standings.

WHO PRODUCED THE BIGGEST RESULT OF THE WEEKEND?
Sunday produced the biggest scoreline of Matchweek 6 as Milford FC thrashed Richards Bay 5-1 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium. Richards Bay were reduced to 10 men early in the match, allowing Milford FC to take full advantage and claim an impressive victory.
The result adds another positive chapter to Milford FC’s start to the campaign and gives the club valuable momentum. Elsewhere, Siwelele FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows shared the points after a 1-1 draw at the Free State Stadium.
DID KRUGER UNITED MAKE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP HISTORY?
Kruger United secured their first ever top flight victory after beating TS Galaxy 1-0 away from home at the Kameelrivier Stadium. The newcomers took advantage after TS Galaxy were reduced to 10 men early in the second half and held on to claim a historic three points.
The weekend once again highlighted how difficult it has been for teams to consistently collect maximum points in the Betway Premiership. Mamelodi Sundowns remain at the summit despite dropping points, while Kaizer Chiefs also had to settle for a share of the spoils.
