Brazil and Australia, both return to the international stage after the FIFA World Cup 2026, looking for a fresh start for the next four-year cycle, starting with the match in the Southern Hemisphere.

The contest has been a rather even one here in Queensland, with Brazil’s only chance so far being a pass from Vinicius to Estevao, and the consequent shot saved by Aussie goalkeeper Patrick Beach.

Five-time world champion Brazil will look to start its rebuild on a high when it takes on Australia in an international friendly on Friday.
It will be the first match for Carlo Ancelotti’s side since its exit in the round of 16 at FIFA World Cup 2026, where Erling Haaland and Norway knocked it out. With Ancelotti stressing on the importance of looking beyond the result, his team will look to find the right combination of youth and experience for the next four year cycle.
