Tiger Shroff assassination bid: Videos capture gunfire, shooters’ movements and actor rushing injured driver to hospital

MUMBAI: A series of videos has emerged showing the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s Juhu area, including footage capturing the moments when unidentified assailants opened fire at his car and the actor switched seats to take the wheel after his driver was injured. The incident took place around 7 pm on Sunday near Pushpa Narsee Park, also known as Jamnabai Nursery, where Shroff was leaving after attending a birthday party. Seven shots were fired at the vehicle, injuring his driver, Firdaus, and a passerby identified as Umesh Charan.

Shroff escaped without any bullet injuries, although he sustained minor abrasions from shattered glass. His driver suffered a gunshot wound to his left hand, while Charan sustained bullet injuries to his chest.

Both were taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have formed 15 teams to identify and trace the assailants. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and evidence collected from the scene to establish how the attack unfolded and determine the route taken by the suspects as they fled. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been linked to claims of responsibility for the shooting through a social media post and a voice note attributed to individuals identifying themselves as Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu.

Police are verifying these claims and investigating the motive behind the attack. One of the videos circulating on social media captures the firing incident, with three men involved in the attack. Two of the assailants approached the vehicle on foot while a third waited on a motorcycle to facilitate their escape. The attackers opened fire as Shroff’s car was slowly moving out of the venue. The firing took place around 350 metres from Juhu police station.Another video shows Shroff switching seats with his driver after the shooting. A woman can be heard urging the actor to leave the spot, saying, “Jaldi le kar jaao, Tiger”.The actor took control of the vehicle to rush his injured driver to hospital. Shroff and Firdaus were subsequently taken to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle for medical attention. The footage provides a glimpse of the immediate aftermath of the firing, as those present at the scene reacted to the incident. In another purported video that went viral on social media, the gun appears to jam as the shooter attempts to fire the sixth shot. The other shooter then fires two more rounds, taking the total number of shots fired to seven.

Doctors said Charan was stable but required surgery. Firdaus was also being treated for his gunshot injury.

Eyewitness recounts how the shooting unfolded

An eyewitness who was present in the area described how the assailants positioned themselves before opening fire at Shroff’s vehicle.Rakesh Kumar, an autorickshaw driver, told ANI that three individuals were involved in the incident. According to his account, one person was on a motorcycle while two others were standing outside, with one near the gate and another positioned slightly ahead of it.Recalling the sequence of events, Kumar said, "I drive a rickshaw here in Mumbai... I arrived around 7:00 PM to take my vehicle out... There were three individuals involved: one was on a motorcycle, while two others were standing outside - one near the gate, and another positioned slightly ahead of it.

When the shooting began, one person opened fire from the front, targeting the specific seat where Tiger Shroff was sitting.

.. another person, the one near the gate, fired a shot that struck the driver in the hand. It happened around 7:00 PM..."

Police form 15 teams to trace assailants

Mumbai Police have formed 15 teams to investigate the shooting and identify those involved. Juhu police and the Mumbai Crime Branch are examining CCTV footage from the area to establish the suspects’ movements and escape route. The three assailants fled towards SV Road and Vile Parle railway station on a motorcycle. Police are also investigating whether Shroff had received any threats before the attack. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.

Lawrence Bishnoi gang claims responsibility

Two individuals identifying themselves as Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, and claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, purportedly took responsibility for the attack through a social media post and a voice note. The message alleged that Shroff had ignored warnings and also threatened people in the film industry who continued to work with actor Salman Khan.Police are verifying the authenticity of the claims and investigating whether the individuals who issued the threats were connected to the shooting. Their claims of responsibility have not been independently established.

The incident has prompted concerns over the security of film personalities in Mumbai, following previous firing incidents targeting Salman Khan’s residence and other attacks linked to alleged gang rivalries.

Fadnavis assures strict action
