‘Cinghiale’ Horror Picture With Richard Armitrage, Britt Robertson & Quelin Sepulveda Begins Filming in Tuscany

EXCLUSIVE: Italy-set horror movie Cinghiale, starring Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland) and Quelin Sepulveda (Havoc), has begun shooting in the medieval town of Barga in the Province of Lucca in Tuscany.

Robertson and Sepulveda play two friends who travel to a remote Italian village to settle a family estate, where their trip spirals into a deadly game of deception at the hands of a charming hunter with a terrifying secret (Armitage).

The title Cinghiale, which means wild boar, takes its cue from the fact that Barga, and the wider Garfagnana Valley in which it lies, is famous for the animals that roam its forests and sometimes the streets of the town.

Cinghiale is the second feature of Jordan Tragash after 2024 debut Bam!, a Chicago-set queer comedy about the intersecting lives of gig economy workers.

The shoot in Barga coincides with the region’s season of heavy fall mists, which Tragash hopes will heighten the horror aspect of the film, which also draws on a a twisted true crime-inspired narrative.

“Our shooting location offers an incredible backdrop, with steep cliffs, dense mist, and real-life wild boar roaming the surrounding hills. It’s the perfect setting for the kind of atmospheric thriller we are producing here,” said Tragash.

“We are excited and humbled to be given the opportunity to capture this one-of-a-kind environment alongside our world class ensemble.”

Further cast members include Kalil Sims (Bam!) and Alessandro Bertolucci (Rebel Hours).

The film is produced by by Devon Gulati (Room Six), Michael Panico (Room Six), Kendra Avinger and Elenna Sindler. Marco Allegri (Rare Objects) co-produces.

Executive producers are Aaron Harvey (Come With Me), Roger Ellis Frazier (Myra), Alessandro Bertolucci (The Little Hours), Harrison Moore (Nuremberg), Jeremy Gilbreath (White) and Jaiden Fallo Sauter.

Robertson is represented by Abby Bluestone at Innovative Artist; Armitage is represented by by JR Ringer at Verve and managed by William Choy at Entertainment 360. Sepulveda is represented by Tom Jeggo at Insight Management & Production and managed by Will Douglas at Artists First. Kalil Sims is represented by Lauren Walker at ATB Talent Agency
