Baccin: ‘Inter discussing new contracts, Dimarco and Calhanoglu happy with us’

New Inter director of sport Dario Baccin assures they are discussing contract extensions with Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu. ‘The players want to stay.’

It has been a difficult time off the field for the Nerazzurri, who parted company with Piero Ausilio after the better part of 30 years in various roles.
This is because Ausilio is reportedly in advanced negotiations to take on a new position at Tottenham Hotspur, working with coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Meanwhile, Baccini was promoted to the role of director of sport, having been Ausilio’s right hand man.
Baccin takes charge at Inter
“The first few days have not been that different to those before I was promoted. It is very satisfying, because after so many years I get to measure myself directly with this position,” Baccin told DAZN Italia and Sky Sport Italia.
The first task at hand is to negotiate new contracts with star names like Dimarco and Calhanoglu, who have both received quite a few proposals from abroad, including reportedly Barcelona and Galatasaray.
“We have a very strong squad, so we are calmly discussing the situation, and more meetings are planned over the next few weeks,” insisted the Inter director.
“We have clear ideas, and the players want to stay. There is no rush, everyone is happy at Inter, and we want to continue with them too.
“Such strong work has been done over the last 10 years, so we want to keep this squad at the top level, also respecting the financial parameters. We’ll try to do the best we possibly can.”
Inter have a perfect start in Serie A after three rounds, but were defeated 2-1 in the Champions League by Real Madrid this week.
“When you are Inter, playing against these big clubs is the norm. We expect to play a great game today and get three points, confirming the courage and spirit we saw in Madrid, but hopefully with a different result.”
