Aryna Sabalenka vs Elena Rybakina start time and how to watch US Open final today

Translate

The pair came through brutal semi-final clashes at Flushing Meadows to reach the final, with world No1 Sabalenka fired up in her victory over Jessica Pegula, while Rybakina came through home favourite Coco Gauff.

Sabalenka has dropped just one set en route to her fourth final in New York, while Rybakina is in a maiden final on the American acrylic.

The Kazakh has had to come through some tricky tests in her previous rounds, seeing off Naomi Osaka in straight sets in the last 16 before coming from a set down to defeat Olympic champion and Iga Swiatek’s conqueror Qinwen Zheng in the last eight.

The second seed produced a superb comeback to defy the raucous home support and dump Gauff out, emerging a 3-6 6-4 6-4 victor on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

As for Sabalenka, the only set she has lost came against Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova in the quarter-finals.

The top seed scraped through 7-6(1) 3-6 7-6(7) on Tuesday, before she aggressively powered past Pegula, the third seed, 7-5 6-2 in the early hours of Friday.

Now, it is the top two-ranked players remaining, in what will be their 18th meeting on the WTA tour.

Sabalenka leads their head-to-head 10-7, winning their previous two encounters, which both came on US hard courts earlier this year at the Indian Wells final and in the last four of the Miami Open.

Rybakina won out in their most recent Grand Slam clash, beating the Belarusian to the Australian Open trophy.
