Indonesian actor fined RM2,300 for self-administering drugs

SEPANG: Indonesian actor and model Samudera Hurley Taylor was fined RM2,300 by the magistrate's court here for self-administering drugs.
Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani imposed the fine after a pathology test returned positive for 11-nor-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid.
The court also ordered Samudera, 24, to serve four months in jail if he failed to pay the fine.
Samudera pleaded guilty in July to self-administering the drug at 5.40pm on July 28 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Airport Management Centre toilet.
The offence carries a maximum fine of RM5,000, a jail term of up to two years, or both upon conviction.
His lawyer, Shah Wira Abdul Halim, said Samudera had paid the fine and had since returned to Indonesia.
He said Samudera had been required to remain in Malaysia pending the pathology report after he was first charged.
"He wanted to go home as quickly as possible to see his mother, who is undergoing cancer treatment.
"After some Immigration issues were resolved, he flew back," he said.
Samudera was previously fined RM500 after pleading guilty to two charges involving an altercation with airline staff and auxiliary police officers at KLIA.
He was fined RM400 for failing to comply with lawful orders issued by auxiliary police officers and RM100 for causing a public disturbance.
The first offence involved failing to comply with instructions to remain calm, refrain from causing a disturbance and proceed directly to board his flight.
The second involved shouting and using abusive and provocative language towards airline staff and auxiliary police officers, as well as disturbing ticket counter personnel.
The offences were committed between 7.20pm and 8.12pm on July 27 at Gate 4 of the KLIA main terminal building.
