Travis Kelce understands why Prince William was trying to shake him off from the royal family’s photo op with Taylor Swift.

On the episode of New Heights posted Wednesday (Oct. 28), the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Jason Kelce reacted to the future King of England telling Graham Norton that he’d tried to move Travis “out of the photo” when the prince snapped a selfie with the pop star and his two eldest children in 2024. “I get it, man,” the younger Kelce brother said with a smile. “I think we all get it.”

“I was just a boyfriend at that point,” he continued. “I wasn’t her husband yet. We don’t really know if this is gonna last, so it’s kinda just, ‘Move out of the way real quick so we can keep this photo forever.’”

“‘Hopefully this doesn’t go south,’” Travis also joked. “‘Otherwise, this photo is not gonna be as good.’”

Though the prince may have had something else in mind, the selfie he did get with son Prince George, daughter Princess Charlotte, Swift and Travis actually ended up being even more historical than it would’ve been without the football player in frame. Taken during the 14-time Grammy winner’s run of Eras Tour shows in London, the group photo ended up being the first snap with Travis that Swift ever posted on her account.

“I hadn’t appreciated the significance, and actually, I was trying to move him out of the photo,” William quipped of the selfie being Swift and Travis’ hard launch on the Friday (Oct. 23) episode of The Graham Norton Show. “But Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn’t work out why he kept coming back in. I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children.”

Luckily, Travis knows it’s not personal. He even offered to send the royals an edited version of the pic after Jason suggested they could Photoshop him out. “I gotta ship that to him,” the Grotesquerie star joked. “Just send it to Buckingham Palace. You think it’ll get to him?”

The episode comes as the 2026-27 NFL season is ramping up, with the Chiefs winning all but one of their games so far. (They lost Oct. 25 to the Seahawks, after which the Seattle team shaded Swift and Kelce on social media.) The musician has been in attendance at every one of Kansas City’s home games so far, most recently appearing in her suite at Arrowhead stadium alongside Este Haim and Caitlin Clark to cheer the team on against the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 18.

As always, Swift is also keeping busy with her own career. After scoring her 16th career No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Patient Zero” from her massive The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore deluxe, she recently attended the Academy Museum Gala and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame gala, where she became the youngest person to ever be inducted at age 36.
