MANILA, Philippines — The Lingayen Airport in Pangasinan will be temporarily closed from October 31 to November 1 due to the observance of Undas (All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day).

The announcement comes from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) on Friday.

Caap explained that the temporary closure is intended to address safety concerns for visitors of the Lingayen Public Cemetery, which is located across the runway of the airport.

The agency also noted that the runway “has previously been used by cemetery visitors as a passageway during the observance.”

“[This] is a necessary precaution to prevent possible accidents and protect the public, particularly those visiting the cemetery during Undas,” Caap Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario said in the statement.

Meanwhile, Caap clarified that no flights will be cancelled during the temporary closure since the Lingayen Airport does not have commercial flights.
